Tuna mayo, weddings and a lifetime of memories
It's been a while since I've posted, been hectic with the Eid holidays here in the Middle East.
I was talking to a friend of mine that I used to work with and I realized how many memories exist in the places and people I've met along my Culinary Journey.
One specific place that comes to mind was the Vineyard Hotel, a beautiful hotel in Cape Town with the most amazing garden and people.
They say you either make an impression on people for a lifetime or lose them after a minute.
My friend Shannon is this kind of human, the fondest memories are of us making sandwiches and talking crap for most of the day and then listening to LIKE A G6 on the way home.
He then went on to chase his culinary dream in Dubai and I could not be more proud of him.
Another human who will always be in my memory is Alexis, her love for tuna and all things yummy is just about as big as mine and she went on to start her own business with amazing treats.
It's been 6 years since I worked there but I'll never forget the good times!!
During the summer we worked at Splash Café and needless to say it was extremely hot being in front of a fryer and a stove but the jokes and fun times made it all worthwhile, who could ever forget Wade and Simone as well.
I suppose in most jobs you make friends and you become close to them but working in a kitchen was different , you become a family, some people don't like each other, some absolutely adore each other but when it comes down to making the magic happen everyone pulls together.
I wouldn't have it any other way!!!
Have a great week my foodie friends
