A big bird, dirty rice, pumpkin pie and a whole lot of laughter
It's December!!! , everyone's favorite time of year. Holidays, Christmas, new year and with it promises of a whole new life in the next year. We all make resolutions to eat less, work out more and live life to the fullest , definitely an exciting time and somewhat a dreamy season.
But before we get there let me tell you about how I celebrated Thanksgiving this year.
I usually don't celebrate this holiday but sometimes we do kind things for people we care about .
There will be a lot of firsts for my friend and I as we just moved into our new place and every holiday brings with it a new exciting opportunity to decorate and have fun.
So I ordered a turkey from work because a woman with full time job does not have too much time to cook a turkey on a Thursday evening . And there we had it, a turkey with all the sides such as mashed potato, roasted root veggies, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, corn bread and that yummy cranberry sauce.
And then my friend who has a gift for cooking came with his Dirty Rice . If you've never had this it is a traditional Cajun, creole dish given it's name because the rice takes on a brownish color because of the spices used.
And ending that all off was a delicious choice of apple and pumpkin pie. I myself enjoy making pie, more savory than sweet but the pastry gets me every time, that flaky butteriness of puff pastry.
All of this combined with the laughter and happiness at the table made for a pretty great thanksgiving.
Testament to the fact that a great meal can bring people together and be enjoyed whole heartedly no matter what the occasion may be.
Until next time my foodie friends 😊💕💕
